Drama and Theater are part of a clasical education program. Children learn to follow directions, to memorize lines, to project their voices and to listen for their turn to speak or act. The Club players particularly enjoy learning how to dance in the different productions. In addition they learn to sing together in unison or in harmony.
Our Drama Club history has included both simple and complex presentations chosen to stretch the childrens' experience and confidence. Quite a few of the Club players have progressed from acting with no lines to supporting speaking roles and even to leading roles. It is important to note that Drama Club is structured so that every member is give a role to play regardless of whether the script calls for a limited number of players or not.
Mrs. Phyllis Hammang and Ms. Karen Hammang have carefully selected plays where boys and girls can interchangeably play many of the character roles. While they have mostly selected musicals so far, they have also selected a few classical comedy dramas.
